Apply Now!

Madeline Island Chamber Music is now accepting applications for our 2019 Chamber Music for Strings and Fellowship String Quartet programs. Featuring outstanding professional quartets plus nationally-renowned faculty, our chamber music programs offer a rigorous curriculum within a supportive community.

Join 73 talented college, post-college, and high school musicians from across the country for three or five weeks with daily coaching, twice-weekly private lessons, weekly master classes, weekly informal and formal concerts, and time for individual practicing and quartet rehearsals. Evenings feature faculty-led presentations on topics such as string quartet rehearsal techniques, and pathways to becoming a professional musician.

Faculty ensembles for 2019 are American String Quartet, Arianna String Quartet, Dover Quartet, and St. Lawrence String Quartet. In addition, Madeline Island Chamber Music faculty includes Artistic Director Jonathan Swartz, violin, and 11 other esteemed musicians.

The application deadline is February 18, 2019. Financial aid and full fellowships are available.

Recorded and live auditions are accepted for admission. Call our office at 612.871.7781 to schedule a live audition.

As one of last year’s Fellowship students said, “Five weeks of history’s greatest music, with some of the best faculty artists in the country, in a spectacularly beautiful natural setting—what could be better?!”
